Career Focus classes are available for sophomore through senior students. These courses offer students the opportunity to choose a more concentrated area of study. Selections are made each school year.
Students learn to shape and form metal using the most current tool and die making equipment available. This project based curriculum will include experiences using lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, grinders, and CNC.
The agriculture program focuses on Animal Science, Food Science, Plant Science, and Power & Structure. Instruction occurs not only in the classroom, but in the fields, lab, greenhouse, and Ag Barn.
Small businesses drive the American economy. In our Business Education & Marketing program, students learn what it takes to run a small business and give substance to the entrepreneurial spirit. Students will study all aspects of business management and marketing and will learn how to ethically manage a business. A special focus will be placed on marketing Whitko Career Academy as well as tackling the
everyday operations of the WCA school store.
Students learn numerous aspects of construction by completing different building projects. Students complete hands-on and classroom instruction in estimating, layout, footing/foundation, platform construction, framing, roofing, siding, window/door installation, electrical HVAC, stair building, and interior finish.
Criminal Justice is a program for students interested in careers in law enforcement, investigations, security, corrections, courts, law, social work and counseling, or other related fields. Students participate in mock trials, crime scene investigations, accident investigations, crime scene sketching, budget development, police reports, educational field trips, and community service projects. The curriculum is presented through classroom instruction, computer-based learning, and hands-on related activities and labs.
In this highly active program, students complete the basic disciplines of culinary, food and beverage, and baking. Students will perform practical experiences by operating the Whitko Café as they prepare to become a chef.
Principles of Computing provides students the opportunity to explore how computers can be used in a wide variety of settings. The course will begin by exploring trends of computing and the necessary skills to implement information systems. Topics include operating systems, database technology, cybersecurity, cloud implementations, and other concepts associated with applying the principles of good information management to the organization. Students will also have the opportunity to utilize basic programming skills to develop scripts designed to solve problems. Students will learn about algorithms, logic development, and flowcharting.
The Early Childhood Education program teaches you the skills, science, and art of doing what you love. The first five years of a child’s development is a time of the most growth and change, and child care professionals are a key part of development for many kids. For students who love caring for and educating kids, or who want to pursue a career working with kids through their early years, the Early Childhood Education program gives students the education and training for this important and family-focused field. Under the guidance and supervision of professional child care staff, students learn safety, behavior and play activities, plus the science behind growth, development, relationships, and nutrition.
The Education Professions program is designed to prepare students for employment and/or postsecondary opportunities in the education field.
The program provides instruction in education career choices, education structure and systems, theory, pedagogy, developmental stages, learning styles and methodology. The program also provides interactive classroom experiences with students at different age levels, in a variety of content areas in educational environments.
Students will learn to use the most current computer aided design (CAD), 3D modeling software and equipment to learn fundamental drafting, geometric constructions, ANSI standards, and residential design and site work.
Students participate in a variety of experiences such as nursing, lab testing, obstetrics, imaging, physical therapy, surgery, medical offices, and extended care. Students will be trained for career related certificates, including the potential to earn a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certificate, CPR, and First Aid.

Students learn to fabricate and weld metal using shielded metal arc, oxyfuel, MIG, TIG, and plasma arc techniques, and procedures. This program includes classroom and lab experiences that lead students to AWS (American Welding Society) certifications.
