Fifth Graders Get a Glimpse of Junior High Life

Today our fifth grade students had an exciting opportunity to visit the junior high school! Students were warmly welcomed by current junior high students and staff and entertained by the band before enjoying guided tours led by junior high Sunshine Society members, who did a fantastic job sharing what makes our school special.

The morning began with a greeting by high school math teacher Mr. Strayer followed by brief presentations by Whitko Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Korus, Junior High Principal Mr. Maurer, Athletic Director Mr. Benedict, SRO Officer VanDevender, School Nurse Mrs. Hinds, and Whitko Band Director Mr. VanPatten.

The fifth grade students then explored the building touring the gym, cafeteria, main office, auditorium, courtyard, classrooms, and more. The students met their future teachers and got a glimpse of what awaits them next year. To top off the in-depth visit, everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch together before the closing announcements and dismissal.

A big thank you to the junior high staff and student leaders for making our Pierceton Elementary School and South Whitley Elementary School fifth graders feel so welcomed and excited for the future!
