Student of the Month February 2026

The following Whitko Community School students are Students of the Month for February 2026.

Student of the Month February 2026

Victoria ‘Tori’ Romine – Whitko Junior Senior High School’s student of the month
Nominated by teacher Carmen Sterling, who said of the eighth grader, It is with great pride and genuine joy that I recommend Tori as our Student of the Month. I have had the pleasure of being Tory’s English teacher for the last two years, and during that time, I have watched her grow tremendously—both academically and emotionally. This year, Tori has made remarkable strides in her maturity and personal accountability. She advocates for herself academically, asking thoughtful questions and seeking help when needed—demonstrating a new level of ownership over her learning. Her academic performance has become noticeably stronger, reflecting her growing confidence and work ethic. Tori has also developed more positive and supportive relationships with her peers. Her attitude has shifted in such a meaningful way—she enters the classroom with a smile, participates respectfully, and sets a great example for others around her. She is learning to take responsibility for her actions, which has further contributed to her growth as both a student and a young person. Tori is truly a joy to have in class. I am so proud of the progress she has made and
the person she is becoming.

Carter Imhoff – Whitko Career Academy student of the month
Nominated by teacher Emily Murphy, who said of the sophomore, Carter consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and respect for others. He shows dedication to his learning, actively participates in class, and always does his best in everything we do. His kindness, responsibility, and willingness to help others make him a great role model for his peers. Not only is he a strong role model among his classmates, but he is also an outstanding role model within our FFA program. Carter is always eager to learn something new and willingly shares his knowledge with younger members, helping them explore the many exciting opportunities our program has to offer.

Student of the Month February 2026

Amelia Michel – South Whitley Elementary School’s student of the month
Nominated by teacher Krista Busz, who said of the Kindergartener, Amelia is a little ray of sunshine. As soon as she walks down the hallway in the morning, her positive energy is contagious. Her willingness to always work hard in the classroom, follow directions, and be an active listener makes her an amazing student. She is not only a hard worker, but a true friend to all of her classmates. Amelia is kind and thoughtful to all of her friends. Amelia is a wonderful and deserving student of the month.

Student of the Month February 2026

Hunter Prater – Pierceton Elementary School’s student of the month
Nominated by teacher Laura Thong-Umphai, who said, The student we’ve selected is someone who has impressed us all year with his determination to understand and grow. Sometimes learning is a challenge for him, but he does not see the obstacles; instead he sees a path toward success. Our classroom carpet has a track worn into it from the trips he has made to the adults in our classroom, to seek out a little help to make sure he understands what is being asked of him, and then he zooms back to his seat to work on it. He always has a smile on his face and he is a really nice human being. It has been my pleasure to assist him on his journey this year. My student of the month is Hunter Prater.
