
Whitko Jr/Sr High School art students competed in the 56th World School Children’s Art Exhibition in the Republic of China, Taipei, and received three Selected Medals of Excellence and a Bronze Medal.
The World School Children’s Art Exhibition is held to promote mutual understanding and friendship among the young generation of the world through the exchange of children’s artwork. The contest is open to children 6- to 15-years-old, organized by the Association for Education through Art, the Republic of China, and the Association of Formative Art Education for the Republic of China.
Selected medals, awards for international excellence, were won by Evan Tucker, Lillyna Schuckman, and Skyler Daeger. Gracelyn Rose received a Bronze Medal and her artwork will be featured in the annual Artist’s Book of Winners which is distributed world-wide. These individuals also represent the USA, winning four of the 13 awards presented to US students.
This year’s exhibit includes artwork from students from 40 countries.
These awards continue Whitko art students’ long tradition of winning. WJSHS art teacher, Daniel Malicki, is “proud of his students’ pursuit for excellence.” Whitko art students have received 63 state, 45 national and 215 international awards to date.
