January 21, 2026 at 5:00pm, Whitko Career Academy: CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION & DATA
A practical look at what students learn, how Whitko teaches it, and how we know it’s working. We’ll walk through how the curriculum is chosen and updated, what strong instruction looks like in classrooms, and the kinds of data we use (classroom assessments, state tests, growth measures) to support every student. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of learning goals, how progress is monitored, and how families and community members can help students succeed.
February 18, 2026 at 5:00pm, Whitko Career Academy: BUSINESS & FINANCE: HOW WHITKO SCHOOLS ARE FUNDED
A clear, community-focused overview of where school funding comes from and how it’s used. We’ll explain Whitko’s budget in plain language — including state and federal funding, local tax support, grants, and categorical funds — and what each can (and can’t) pay for. You’ll learn how spending decisions are made, what drives costs (staffing, transportation, special education, facilities, technology), and how the district stays accountable through audits, board approval, and public reporting. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the “why” behind budget priorities and how community input fits into the process.
March 18, 2026 at 5:00pm, Whitko Career Academy: SCHOOL SAFETY & CULTURE
A strong school culture is the foundation for a safe and supportive learning environment. When students, staff, and families feel connected, respected, and valued, there is greater trust and shared responsibility for one another. Clear expectations, positive relationships, and a sense of belonging encourage students to speak up, make good choices, and look out for their peers. While each school has safety plans and protocols that guide daily operations, it is a positive school culture that brings those plans to life—strengthening communication, accountability, and care across the entire community.
April 22, 2026 at 5:00pm, Whitko Career Academy: EARLY LEARNING TO GRADUATION – THE JOURNEY
A “journey map” from preschool through graduation that shows key milestones, transitions, and the choices students get to make along the way. We’ll explain what students are expected to learn at each level, how support kicks in when students struggle, and how opportunities expand as they get older (clubs, athletics, arts, leadership, CTE, dual credit). A big focus is that students can choose different pathways in high school based on their interests and future plans — college, career training, military/service, or direct-to-workforce — and Whitko helps them build a personalized plan to get there. Indiana’s Graduation Pathways framework is designed around those options.
May 20, 2026 at 5:00pm, Whitko Career Academy: FUTURE-FOCUSED: WHAT’S ON THE HORIZON FOR WHITKO?
A forward-looking session about where Whitko is headed in the next 3–5 years. We’ll share the district’s big-picture goals, emerging priorities, and the “why” behind upcoming initiatives, from academics and student support to facilities, technology, staffing, and community partnerships. This is a chance for community members to understand the roadmap, ask questions, and see how Whitko is preparing students for a changing world while staying grounded in local values. We’ll also highlight how community voices shape the future through feedback, collaboration, and shared ownership of district success.
