March Students of the Month Announced

The following Whitko Community School students are Students of the Month for March 2025.

Whitko students of the month march 2025

Grady Branning – Whitko senior student of the month

Nominated by teacher Antimony Fox, who said Grady has an incontrovertible sense of humor mixed with sarcasm that he has everywhere he goes.  He is a good student, but one that his goofiness may make you think he’s not at first.  He is kind and sociable, often staying in my room or coming back in to talk to other students and teachers in the hallway.  He has offered to help students in AP Lang and has no problem asking for or giving help in his own AP Lit class.  Grady is also great at showing up for Whitko – if he’s not participating in the activity himself, you can usually find him in the student section cheering his classmates on.

Kira Sordelet – Whitko junior student of the month

Nominated by teacher Antimony Fox, who said Kira is inquisitive and a good thinker.  She comes ready to discuss whatever we’re working on in class, sometimes even working ahead. She’s the only student I have had to tell not to worry about an essay topic two weeks before we even started the project!  She doesn’t let anything get in her way – she missed a lot of school due to an injury and got all of her work caught up quickly while still only doing half days for some time.

Kristin Greenwood – Whitko sophomore student of the month

Nominated by teacher Mike Hanback, who said There is a lot to be said for the quiet, never-in-trouble, meticulous students who always seem to fly under the radar.  They don’t speak out too often, they almost always get their work completed, and the products are usually exceptional (thanks to that meticulous part), though they may turn in an assignment a day or so late, you know it will be done well.  I just described Kristin Greenwood who is in my class, and I am pretty sure that sentiment would be echoed by a few other teachers.  What she lacks in voice in class is more than made up in what she is learning, and can convey on paper.  And the highlight of all of this is the brightness of her face when she smiles, which she does all too infrequently.  But when she does, she beams.

Lucy Morgan – Whitko eighth grade student of the month

Nominated by teacher Curtis Hines, who said Lucy is a diligent student with a respectful and positive attitude.

Adam Gaerte – Whitko Career Academy student of the month

Nominated by teacher Jade Hollenbaugh Adam Gaerte is a tremendous representative for Student of the Month from the Precision Machining department. His enthusiasm and ability are both outstanding. He shows up ready to learn and is always willing to help other students that may be struggling. Adam is an asset in the classroom and has a bright future as a machinist that could lead to further opportunities in the field of machining and manufacturing.

Braelyn Reed – South Whitley Elementary School’s student of the month

Nominated by sixth grade teacher Marcus Green, who said Braelyn Reed has been chosen as our March Student of the Month. She is always kind, respectful, and the first one to lend a helping hand to any of her peers. She is a member of the 6th grade volleyball team, and the Whitko recreational league softball team so not only does she strive for perfection in her extra-curricular activities, she also strives to do her best in everything she does academically. She has been on the A honor roll all year and is such a joy to have in class this year. Way to go Braelyn! Keep up the great work!

Caroline Raber – Pierceton Elementary School’s student of the month

Nominated by sixth grade teachers Donna Stump and Tasha Kinney, who said Caroline has a wonderful attitude and is a great role model for her peers.  She is a very hard worker and she strives to always do her personal best.  She is kind and respectful to others.  She always has a smile on her face that helps you when you are down. Caroline is a student athlete that has learned to balance these roles.
