On March 2 2024 Rochester Community School Corporation hosted a middle school wrestling invitational at Rochester High School. Whitko middle school boys participated in the event. A total of 11 area schools were represented. 

Rochester’s SRO, Rick Utter, was alerted to a loud noise from an individual in attendance. A 44-year-old man from Bremen was identified to be in possession of two loaded handguns inside his backpack. One of the handguns had a spent round inside the firearm. It is believed the individual negligently discharged the firearm. No individuals were harmed during this incident. The man was taken into custody by Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies.
