As you navigate this site you will see just a few of the exciting things that go on at our school. South Whitley Elementary School students grow both academically and socially each day as they work with staff on exciting learning projects.
Growing up to be responsible citizens is an important part of going to school at South Whitley Elementary School. Teachers focus on and reinforce our Life-skills and Lifelong Guidelines daily and have high expectations for all of our students.
First and foremost, however, are academics. Students at South Whitley Elementary School take both the state sponsored ISTEP and NWEA MAP tests. Students are challenged at their ability level through differentiated instruction that includes GAP Math, Tiered Reading and Writers Workshop.
The South Whitley Elementary PTO is an active partner with our school in sponsoring the many special family-oriented activities we host. Family Movie Night, Make It – Take It Night, Science Central, Dynamic Dads are among the many other programs offered that aim at building and maintaining strong families.
South Whitley Elementary School students have the opportunity to participate in numerous academic and athletic endeavors outside of the classroom. Math Bowl team, our School Spelling Bee, the annual Science Fair, J. A, Biztown, Cross Country, Basketball and Floor Hockey provide our students with a wide variety of opportunities to become involved in areas that interest them.
